Aysén is Chile’s smallest electrical system in terms of capacity and in regard to the served population. Even though it has some hydroelectric units, small diesel units dominate the matrix.

Aysén is a very small market almost entirely dominated by SAESA.

*Note: The graph consolidates the installed capacity at parent company level, including subsidiaries. SAESA includes Edelaysén and SAGESA. Invercap includes Empresa Eléctrica Cuchildeo.

Aysén serves mainly the Aysén Region, but also the south of the Los Lagos Region.

In the past 20 years, Aysén went from being a 11 MW 80% hydropower system to a 50 MW mainly thermoelectric one.

*Note: The 1990 installed capacity corresponds to the accumulated capacity installed up to that year.
